The youths of Camden speak out about knife crime in their borough.
"Concern has grown regarding the number of violent knife crimes in our borough.

In the past two months alone, Camden has seen around 6 knife attacks a few of which were fatal.

What is more disturbing is that teenagers now feel they have to arm themselves with knives for their own protection. What is even worse is that some teenagers feel it is going to get them respect.

It is not a surprise when we open the Camden Journal that there is yet another knife attack. But what we are not realising is that the next time we open the paper, it could be your mother, little brother or sister or a friend. Put yourselves in the shoes of the victims families. HOW WOULD YOU FEEL?

If you are / or know anyone who carries a knife. PUT A STOP TO IT AND END THE VIOLENCE.

Its time to put a stop to the tragedy, we need to wake up and realise it really could happen to us!!!"

"School is supposed to be a place of safety yet pupils are carrying knives with them for ‘protection’ – we are in fear even going to school – they say school days are supposed to be the best days of our lives. Most London schools have police onsite but that does not seem to be preventing anything maybe we need metal detectors also and random bag
checks etc."

"Most people who get stabbed are in fact stabbed by the their own knives."

"I think that London is becoming more like America with the gangs and weapon culture."

"Something has to be done about the weapon culture as the majority of young people are living in fear everyday when we are just going about our every day business."

"Does someone deserve to have their life taken away because they ‘look at someone the wrong way’!!!!!!!!!!!"
