Coram Young Parent

The Young Parents Project at Coram Family Parents’ Centre has been running since 2000. The project works with young parents between the ages of 16-19 who are residents of the borough of Camden.

The aims of the project are to support the individual needs of young parents to overcome the barriers to education, training and employment, to support them in their parenting, to link them into a network of services, and to help give young parents and their children a positive environment where they feel welcome, relaxed and supported.

We achieve these aims in a number of ways:

We provide classes in English, Maths and ICT, as well as other courses such as Introduction to Journalism and Introduction to Film.

Every class has a free Crèche available on site, and students who attend regularly can get their travel cost paid for.

We run Drop-ins for parents to meet other young parents and to have an opportunity for their children to play and learn.

We offer Baby Massage classes for babies not yet crawling.

If young parents want to go on to college or study elsewhere we can help them to find the right course, as well as to help them find and get funding for appropriate childcare for their child (we also provide travel costs for those attending college or training courses).

We can link parents into getting the services they need, such as housing options and advice, benefits, and legal issues such as immigration.

Social Events and Summer Trips

These are just a few of the things we do to help support young parents. If you are interested in finding out more, please contact us!
